WHAT IS CBD OIL?

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of over 60+ naturally occurring cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis, an annual herbaceous flowering plant. CBD oil is derived from the cannabis plant’s secretions. Both marijuana and hemp are forms of cannabis. However, cannabis does not mean marijuana. Cannabis is the genus name and general umbrella term, under which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall.

99% of the time marijuana has a high amount of THC and only a very low amount of CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has a very high amount of CBD in most instances and only a trace amount of THC. Our CBD products are derived from industrial hemp, not marijuana.

Because our CBD products and extracts are derived from hemp (not marijuana), they can also be referred to as CBD-rich hemp oil, hemp-derived CBD oil, CBD-rich cannabis oil, or simply “hemp extracts.” Note that CBD oil is different from hemp seed oil and organic hemp oil, as the latter oils are derived from hemp seeds (not the resin) and do not contain cannabidiols.

As the top NON-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp, CBD has been increasingly and robustly researched in the scientific, medical, and pharmaceutical communities. Because CBD is non-psychoactive, it does not cause any sense of feeling “high."

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

CBD primarily interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid (EC) system, a network of millions of cannabinoid receptors found throughout our body. These receptors are densely clustered in the brain and central nervous system.

While CBD is a phytocannabinoid, or plant-based cannabinoid, our bodies also naturally produce cannabinoids, known as endogenous cannabinoids or endocannabinoids. Almost every organ of our body, including our skin and digestive tract, contains cannabinoid receptors.
